Long before discovering Pilates, Michelle dedicated her life to dance and athletics. Growing up, she trained extensively in ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance. As a teenager, she performed at Superbowl XXIX and was honored with an invitation to perform for the Queen of England. After college, Michelle continued to enjoy a semi-professional dance career, performing with Exclamation Dance Company in Houston while falling in love with choreography and teaching.

Her choreography won national awards which eventually brought her home to teach and perform for a ten-year term at The Dance Company in Green Bay, Wisconsin. While her love of dance remained strong, Michelle chose to pursue a Business-Marketing career. Consistent with her pursuit of a healthy lifestyle, she participated in races, half marathons, duathlons, triathlons, and trained in HIIT/TRX, spin, yoga, and barre.

In 2021, Michelle discovered the multiple benefits of Pilates and applied this modality to recover from injuries.  Through the STOTT PILATES® training, she learned to incorporate the specifics of human anatomy with movement.  Familiar with the consequences of overtraining, Michelle has increased her knowledge to make workouts safe and effective for any client.  At Pilates South Texas, Michelle has earned the STOTT PILATES® Fully Certified Instructor status and loves fusing her Pilates training with her overall appreciation of everything fitness…especially dance.

Growing up in Hawai’i, Alana spent her days hiking, swimming, surfing, and biking. Alana has always been a lover of movement, believing that it is more than exercise and physical therapy, but also a mental therapy that aligns body, mind, and spirit. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Gonzaga University where her appreciation for movement grew. While working in New York City in set design (building and painting sets), she realized the physical demands had been strenuous on her body. Researching ways to recuperate, she discovered Pilates as a modality to recondition and strengthen her body, so she could continue to enjoy her activities, pain free.

Alana believes Pilates compliments all ranges of individuals, whether it be training an athlete, assisting a client with post rehab, or an individual that wants to slow down the signs of aging. Her goal as an instructor is to create a supportive atmosphere to help clients cultivate a deeper mind body connection as well as allow clients to take time for themselves through movement. She strives to guide people to feel appreciation for their bodies, and for them to leave a session with a sense of freedom to continue movement with stability and confidence.

Alana is actively furthering her STOTT PILATES® education.

She earned her certification in Pilates exercise through PhysicalMind Institute™ in both Mat and Equipment training in 2001. She has offered private and group Pilates instruction for over 20 years in the Houston area.

These diverse environments, she feels, broadly reflect the adaptability and benefits of Pilates movement.
